As much as I loved working at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL taking that job has proved to be one of the worst career choices I think I have ever made.
Please dont get me wrong I worked with some awesome friends and made a lot of new friends working there and overall enjoyed my job there.
However, I have never taken a job that paid such a low amount in all of my life.
I was lied to by my manager and was told if I took a class to do Audiograms I would be able to work overtime and make up for the low pay.
That was nothing more that a scam I think to get me to take the class and do more work while other employees were not required to complete the same training.
Also they cut out all overtime before I was told that I could work overtime if I took that class.
That news was devastating to say the least.
While working at Universal Studios full time after I paid my monthly bills (rent, truck payment, insurance and power) I have a total of 50 bucks left for the rest of the month. Of course that money went to food and gas to get to work, thank god I lived close by.
So during that time of have a profit of 50 bucks we have to remember I was still taking rejection medications at that time and my monthly medication cost was anywhere from 300 to 700 dollars depending on what all I had to get refilled.
So during this time I had to start taking money out of my savings, my 401k, and some other funds I had set asside.
Sadly it did not take long before all of my funds were wipped out and I took a second job (which I had been trying to do for a long time before offered another job)
I started working 7 days a week. I worked Sun, Mon, Tues 7pm to 7a at Osceola Regional Medical Center and then Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat from 230pm till 11pm at Universal Studios.
I was working 2 full time jobs and was just still barely making enough money to have some extra cash at the end of each payday.
The medication cost has been so outragous, it has wipped me out of every cent I had to try to continue on.
At Universal they were so strict about the overtime, if you have seconds of over time they would edit your time card and wipe out the overtime. If you have several minutes of overtime, you would be told to clock out early or sent home early to avoid any overtime on your time card.
Not only was this the lowest paid job I have ever taken, but it also has caused some other problems as well.
Like with my disability, it caused a 400 a month reduction in my monthly benefits.
So even though it has been some time since I worked there, it still effects me more and more as my finicanal situation continues to take a downfall.
So thats a little insight on what happened and how I got into this situation.
Of course this does not even talk about the weekly Dr appointments I had to pay for out of pocket (was taking EPO shots once a week)
I hope this helps sheds some light into how I ended up in this situation and if you have other questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks again and God Bless...
