Medications - post transplant

During orientation they went over the post transplant medications and I must say this list is nothing compared to the medications I was talking after the first transplant ( I took 82 pills a day) now they have about 11 different medications I will have to take and a total of 39 pills a day with the new transplant.

Which brought me to this blog to ask for help.

The medications I will take have a total of $3,634 a month out of pocket expense. However with the current insurance I have I will have to spend $1,800 a month out of pocket just for medications. As long as I dont lose my insurance coverage and with being out of work since Feb, it's a good possibility that I will lose it and then only have medicare to help cover the cost.

And post transplant I can expect to be out of work 3-6 months.

And disability comes now where close to covering medication cost. Disability barely covers the cost of living. I think once all the monthly bills are paid with disability I will have approx.100 dollars a month for food, gas and other cost of living expenses.

So if you can help, please do.

The medication cost before kidney failure was very expensive and I had to spend lots of money to keep the monthly medications that I needed. This was in order to try to save the first transplant but sadly even with all the advacements in the transplant area, there was nothing that worked to save the first kidney transplant.

This was one of the worst days of my life when the doctor told me that I would have to return to diaylsis, I faught him every step of the way because I wanted to go straight to transplant and skip the dialysis part, but that never happened. I guess if I went straight to transplant, the doctors would have missed out on a lot of money by me being on dialysis.

Which is pretty sad that they put money over my health and overall well being, but I guess that is life these days.

Thank You for all of your continued support.
